Can I cancel my bank account before the creditors take my money?
I am in debt and my creditors keep harassing me about taking money from my accounts. If I withdraw all the money from the bank, can the creditors still collect?LawQA.com Answer Library

They can't collect if they don't know where the money is.

A judgment creditor can levy on your bank account or cash, subject to your right to exempt property that is for necessaries such as food, shelter, and medical needs.

If there is no money in your bank, the creditors cannot take it but they can go after your wages.
